The nursing shortage is one of the greatest long-term threats to healthcare in Western North Carolina.

How do we address this problem? One way is to encourage young people to join the nursing profession. Another way is to make sure these young people get the training they need by recruiting and retaining the best possible nursing faculty.

The Chat Norvell Nursing Faculty Endowment—part of the solution.

Chat Norvell has been CEO of CarePartners Health Services for 25 years. Chat retires in January 2009. To honor his 25 years of visionary service to Asheville, Buncombe County and the wider Western North Carolina region, CarePartners Foundation has established the Chat Norvell Nursing Faculty Endowment. This endowment will support the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College nursing program.

The Chat Norvell Nursing Faculty Endowment will help:

• recruit and retain high quality nursing faculty members;
• expand the capacity of A-B Tech’s nursing program;
• graduate more nurses to meet the current and future healthcare needs of Western North Carolina.
